Welcome back to the start of the fall term in 2018! The Central New York Humanities Corridor is proud to sponsor a slate of activities and research collaborations throughout the 2018-19 academic year.
For Fall 2018, the CNY Humanities Corridor is generously supporting 30 different working groups hosting a total of 46 activities (conferences, lectures, performances, readings, etc.) on 8 different campuses! As always, you can find a full slate of Corridor activities on our website. Each host campus’s humanities center may have additional event details.
While the Spring 2019 slate of activities also promises a robust schedule, please make note that we will be announcing another CFP in mid-September for activities in Spring 2019 and the 2019-20 academic year. Stay tuned for that announcement, and, in the meantime, think about potential future collaborations. The next CFP deadline will be Oct. 15.
Fall 2018 will be the final term in which the CNY Humanities Corridor is supported entirely by an award from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. In Spring 2019, we will transition to the endowed phase of the program with separate endowments at Cornell University, University of Rochester, and Syracuse University where the Corridor will continue to be administered from the Humanities Center. We will continue to partner with other Central New York colleges and particularly with the New York Six Liberal Arts Consortium. This transition will mean drastic changes on our administrative side, but the changes should be less visible to you as the working group coordinators. In fact, we hope the new endowment structure will allow us to streamline processes to make it easier for you to organize Corridor activities and support your research, creative work, and teaching.
As a refresher for those of you coordinating upcoming activities, you can find all of the Corridor forms on our website. For financial reimbursements, you need to work with the host institution where the activity is being held. As always, if you have any Corridor questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the administrative offices at cnyhumanities@syr.edu.
Thank you, and best wishes for an excellent fall term!
