Women in Music Analysis-a-Thon
About This Event
On behalf of our Central New York Humanities Corridor working group we invite music scholars to participate in a Women in Music Analysis-a-Thon in March. This event will take place online. Our group is collaborating with Felipe Martins (UFRJ), Anne Foo, and Mark Gotham, who are developing a timeline tool called TiLiA. TiLiA allows the analyst to enter data about form, harmony, motive, and so on, in such a way that it links directly to specific time points in an audio file, YouTube recording, and/or musical score.
- Part 1–Analysis:
- We will meet once on Zoom (Feb. 24) to get started; participants will work on their own throughout the month of March and upload their analysis to TiLiA by Monday, March 24.
- Part 2–Discussion:
- We will meet again on Zoom to discuss the results and provide feedback on the utility of this software for music research and teaching. All are invited to join the discussion, even if they did not complete an analysis. Please register using the link to the right.
