Upstate South Asias: Inaugural Forum
About This Event
This day-long workshop will provide an opportunity for ~25 pre-registered members of Upstate South Asias to begin the conversation over how to best "join resources across Syracuse University and NY6 schools—by coordinating teaching, research, language, and the abroad—to build a more robust ecosystem for South Asia’s study in Upstate New York addressing challenges to democratic institutions." The morning will feature two discussant-anchored 3-person panels that explore and/or illustrate aspects of the relationship between researching South Asia and Upstate NY locations. A catered mid-day meal will provide a chance to socialize with colleagues while reflecting on the challenges and opportunities of institutional collaboration more broadly. The afternoon will feature three 50 minute break-out sessions revolving around questions of institutional coordination: (1) teaching, (2) language, (3) local/abroad engagements.
