Symposium on Gatherings: Intersectional Feminist Studies
About This Event
This is a half day symposium on the theme of "feminist placemaking" on 10/18 at LeMoyne. We're bringing together GWS directors and GWS faculty from Syracuse, Oswego, Rochester and Ithaca to hear junior scholars engage with the theme of feminist placemaking. We approach this through both intersectional and transnational lenses. In particular, Hurtado has us think about Puerto Rican feminisms, while Overby approaches Black feminist placemaking in Rochester, and Dixon encourages us to think about queer and BIPOC placemaking. Then for the second half of the day, we're delving into these issues through breakout groups that grapple with the question, what is the future of feminist solidarities in CNY? We end the day with a plan for future issues of "Gatherings" and also to plan for our next 2 events.
