Retreat on the Future of CLAC & Language Vitality
About This Event
A day retreat: The volume "Language Program Vitality in the United States: From Surviving to Thriving in Higher Education" delves into the well-known language enrollment crisis in the United States. We will use the book as a departure for reflection on examples of transformational initiatives that successfully resulted in revitalized language programs and in increased opportunities for students to engage with language across a diverse array of topics and curricula. During the retreat, participants will engage in productive conversations with three objectives in mind:
- Where can we find overlaps of interests, challenges, and goals?
- What are the needs across the institutions?
- Where can we collaborate and how?
A study of this book will be valuable to anyone interested in exploring possibilities for collaborative inter- and intra-institutional partnerships.
